Victorian Silver Scottish Agate Brooch Pendant

$ 726.00 $ 980.00

Long ago I discovered the wonderment of using a brooch to pin my scarf around my neck. There’s less adjusting throughout the day and it garners so many compliments. They say to dress for the career you want, not the one you have. I say, dress for the day you want, and it’s sure to be had.

This silver Scottish target brooch was handcrafted around 1850. It’s set with a stunning array of agates native to the Highlands and beautifully engraved.  This handsome piece measures 47 mm across and is 12 mm thick, it weighs 23.3 grams. The back contains a c-clasp to fit snugly on the scarf, sweater or jacket of your choice. This piece bears no marks, and has been professionally acid tested.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were enthralled with Scotland since they first began to visit during the 1840s. In 1852, the couple purchased Balmoral Castle to reside in during summers. Queen Victoria owned the estate until her death in 1901. As the Royal court followed the couple to Scotland, the desire for Scottish jewelry flourished, it’s beautiful colors and classic Celtic vibe are as relevant today as they were then!
