When clients contact me and ask me if it’s okay to buy a ring for their love as a gift before they are ready for the engagement ring, I always say, ‘yes, of course, just don’t put it in a box!’. There’s just something about handing a girl a ring box for the first time, that ring had best be ‘the’ ring; that’s my opinion anyway. Here’s a ring that should definitely be given in a box!
This hand crafted diamond cluster ring was made in about 1880 and yet it’s fresh, clean lines give a somewhat contemporary look. The wonderfully weighty shank holds a cluster of 7 lively Old European cut diamonds. The center stone weighs about 7 points and the surrounding diamonds are about 4 points each for a total diamond weight of about 30 points. This ring is made of 18 karat gold and is marked ’18’ inside the band. The face of the ring measures 10 mm north to south and across, it sits 4 mm off the finger and narrows to 2 mm at the back of the band. This ring is a size 7.5 but could be resized to suit. It weighs 5.5 grams.
It was most likely made in England and I purchased it in London.
