Vintage Gold 'Ever Yours' Essex Crystal Flags Bracelet

Before the days of radios and sonar, the only way for one ship to communicate with another was through the use of nautical flags. The flags signaled other ships to take specific actions and eventually became associated with letters.

This wonderful bracelet uses the art of the Essex crystal, a cabochon of rock crystal is carved from the back and then reverse painted to give it a very three dimensional look. Each crystal on this station necklace is a boat flag letter which as a whole spells out ‘Ever Yours’. This Art Deco bracelet dates to the 1920s and is marked with ‘15k’ for 15 karat gold. The bracelet measures 7 inches long and the set crystals are 8.7 mm in diameter and 4.3 mm high. Made in England.
