Antique Early Victorian Diamond Earrings in Silver and Gold, c. 1850

There's something about unapologetically giving into temptation. Especially when diamond earrings are at hand. They're addicting like red wine, smooth like bourbon, and satisfying like champagne. They shimmy and shake with the light, sparkly with every turn of your beautiful head. They make you sit a little taller, turn your swan-like neck a little more than you otherwise might. They look breathtaking on your ears. 

Handcrafted in England, these Victorian diamond earrings were made in 1850. Each earring contains five winking old diamonds. One diamond peaks the top, three are lined below, and one bright star of the show hangs at the bottom, the shape is reminiscent of an acorn or a snowdrop flower. The diamonds are silver set and backed in 18 karat gold, the earring backs for the posts are platinum. The diamonds are all old European cuts, the center stone on each is approximately .5 carats and all told the earrings add up to about 1.8 carats total diamond weight. They are unmarked but have been acid tested. These fantastic diamond drops were most certainly made up from something else, maybe drops on a necklace, or part of different pair of earrings or even a brooch, they were re-made at some point into these totally wearable and more-interesting than your basic stud earrings. When they were converted they were plated in white gold. Together, they weigh 4.3 grams and they measure 3/4 of an inch long.
