Antique Victorian Faceted Garnet Bead Necklace with Silver Gilt Clasp, 19" Long

Just like people, this wonderful garnet necklace was made to be seen by candlelight. Can't you just see it, glittering deep red to match your cabernet as you sit with friends, eating and drinking in the soft glow. Often called Bohemian Garnets because they were mined in Bohemia, in what is now the Czech Republic. I think they should be called Bohemian because they are dark and earthy and mysterious, just what you need to play the modern day Gypsy. 

This wonderfully sparkly single strand features 76 graduated faceted gems that range from 11 mm across at the largest down to 5 mm across at the smallest. The strand is 19 inches long and has a silver gilt clasp that I believe is a later replacement or addition. This strand dates to about 1890. 

I offer layaway on most items purchased for full retail price. In general my layaway terms are 1/3 down and 1/3 in 30 days and the last 1/3 in 60 days.
