He noticed her sitting at a table for one, sipping red wine and tearing at a baguette. At first it was the glint from the candlelight that reflected from her necklace, but then it became her glittering eyes and how they blinked slowly while she read. She didn't notice the waiter set down her spaghetti. She just held her glass, warm from her fingers, and with each page she turned, she absently touched the pendant around her swan-like neck.
This fantastic and sparkling necklace was hand crafted in France in about 1915, it is set with wonderful faceted marcasite gems to emulate rose cut diamonds and rich purple amethyst gems. The top of the pendant is in the form of a bow with a drop that seems to contain a crown and swirling vines. This necklace certainly shows influence of the Garland Era and Art Nouveau, two of the concurrent styles of the day when this beauty was made. The stones are all set into silver and the drop measures 76 mm north to south and 36.1 mm across, the chain is 17.5 inches long and the whole thing weighs 11 grams. The pendant is closed backed and has the French boars head mark on the reverse.
Sip wine and gather up the best kind of stares with this timeless necklace.
