Austro-Hungarian George and the Dragon Pendant Silver Peal Enamel

$ 920.00

Renaissance Revival jewelry was en vogue during the mid-late 1800s all across Europe. Austria-Hungary established itself as a maker of quality jewelry during this time, as the pieces were not only detailed and beautiful on the front, but oftentimes equally detailed and ornate on the back. Workshops in Austria-Hungary crafted the majority of these Renaissance and Gothic Revival pieces between 1860 and 1910. Oftentimes, these pieces were made in silver and then gilded in gold. This antique St. George pendant is no exception as it was made in silver around 1870, in Austria-Hungary, during the Victorian Era.

It features the image of St. George riding his white horse and heroically slaying a green dragon. It’s a drop pendant with eight natural seed pearls, with seven on the double chain and one at the drop. This piece measures 52 x 20.5 mm and it weighs 3.8 grams. It bears no marks and has been acid tested.

This is a highly detailed pendant with bold colorful enamel, meant to be worn and seen! So go ahead, treat yourself.
