The buckle was a simple invention that turned out to be an extremely useful thing. In Victorian times buckles were everywhere and the Victorians even assigned a sweet sentiment to them (as they did with most things!). The buckle was seen to bind two separate things, such as hearts, together and was a clear symbol of love and devotion.
This silver buckle locket has a wonderful stylized buckle and beautiful engraving. The locket measures 59.5 mm long including the lovely hinged top bale and is 36.2 mm across at the widest point and 15 mm thick. The locket is fully hallmarked to the reverse with the marks showing that it was made in Birmingham, England in 1883 of sterling silver. It has two frames to hold your photos or mementos. Weighs 16.2 grams.
Please note that this listing is for the locket only and does not include the chain which is shown as an example. We have silver chains and collars that would be fabulous with this locket, please enquire if you’d like some suggestions.
