They call it cat’s eye. Is this because of the fantastic color that changes from green to gold depending on the light? Or is it because the ‘eye’ seems to follow you wherever you go? Or maybe it’s just because this stone is fabulous, just like cat’s?
This cat’s eye chrysoberyl is surrounded by a halo of Old European cut diamonds, all set into a Victorian ring of 18 karat gold. The center stone is a wonderful oval cabochon which measures 16 x 7.8 x 4.5 mm and weighs approximately 5.7 carats. Overall the face of this ring measures 19.5 mm north to south and 11.8 mm across, it sits 5.7 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.8 mm at the back of the band. This ring is marked ’18c’ for 18 karat gold and weighs 4.3 grams. This size 7.5 ring could be re-sized to suit.
This classic ring is such a rare beauty, it is filled with light and sparkle. This ring was hand crafted around 1880, most likely in England, which is where I purchased it.
