The buckle, like the snake, was a Victorian symbol of eternity and unending devotion, the joining together of two into one, round and round, a love without end.
This buckle ring is a wonderfully wide Victorian example, a wide band that is fully hallmarked with the marks that show it was made in Birmingham, England in the year 1891 by the maker of ‘JT&S’, it is also marked as being 15 karat gold with the marks of ’15’ and ‘625’. This size 5.25 US ring measures 8.6 mm wide at the buckle and 6 mm wide the rest of the way around, it’s 2.5 mm thick and weighs 4.5 grams.
