Victorian Silver AEI Sentimental Oval Locket

AEI stands for Amity, Eternity and Infinity; it was a popular sentiment throughout the Victorian era and was often used in memorial jewelry, but also in romantic pieces. It was meant as a symbol of eternal love, meaning ‘now and forever’.

This wonderful Victorian Locket features the intertwined letters in a bold design reminiscent of metal strap work found on medieval doors. This is a fabulous and romantic locket, smooth and soft and weighty, that kind of velvety feel that only Victorian sterling seems to achieve. The locket is on the larger side, measuring 60.7 mm north to south and 39 mm across, it is 13 mm thick and weighs 23.8 grams.
