Victorian Silver Enamel Locket Person with Cherry Blossoms
$ 890.00
You can almost smell the cherry blossoms and see them bounce along on this shoulder of this charming figure. Fully realized in enamel, this wonderful solitary child seems to dance off the front of this antique, soft silver locket. I was delighted to find this beauty while strolling the galleries of Portobello Road market on a Saturday morning in London.
Hand crafted in England in the Victorian era, this beautiful locket is in lovely condition and is fully hallmarked with British marks. The locket is on the larger size, measuring 60.3 mm north to south and 35.8 mm across, it’s 8.8 mm thick. This locket is marked to the reverse with the marks for English assay of sterling silver, the lion showing it was made in Birmingham and the date code of ‘h’ for the year 1882, it also has a makers mark. This beauty weighs 16.4 grams.
As with any enameled piece, a bit of extra care should be taken to keep this locket in good condition. Always avoid closing the locket by pushing in the center, instead close it at the edges where it’s thicker. Also, try to avoid extreme heat and cold, never shower or swim in enamel jewelry.
